Hello Fall!
A season that seems to bring magic! Green leaves change to red and orange and gold. Pastures of wildflowers become pastures of pumpkins! The warm air turns crisp and cool and nighttime comes quicker everyday! You trade your tank tops for sweaters and your shorts for leggings and skinny jeans. You put away your favorite sandals and breath new life into your favorite pair of boots. You say farewell to your swimsuit and hello to your jumpsuit! And you replace your beach tunic with a herringbone blazer;)
Fall bursts with Fresh Fashion, Tantalizing Travel, Deep and Rich Decor, Crock Pots of Cooking and Mesmerizing Movies!
But first! Let's start with your closet;)

HAUNTINGLY, HISTORIC TOWNS!!! Visit one near you, whether it's home to The Blair Witch or has a haunting past! Historic Districts are amazing! So much history, so much style and grace. My favorites are peppered throughout my blog, just one click and your off! Venture into a Haunted Forest with friends or pick pumpkins and apples at a nearby, local farm. Try a local winery with friends or family and throw on your fall style best to keep warm! Don't forget to have some fun in all your fancy;)
Middletown, MD. is a quaint little hamlet in the foothills of Northern MD, it boasts a wonderful little restaurant called The Main Cup, filled with amazing local art and great food. There are also a few specialty boutiques, an Ice Cream Shop and a wonderful Winery/Meadery nearby called Orchid Cellar!
This charming Farmers Market in Hillsboro, VA, Stoney Brook Farm Market was the perfect scene for some fall shopping and eating! Just off the main road this little boutique market seems to pull you right in and the food will make you stay! Everything from soups to sandwiches and an apple cider that is sure to please will keep you coming back time and time again!
DECORATING THE HOUSE!!! I love adding harvest decor to my home! Create a fall centerpiece with pillar stands or lanterns and pumpkins, wreaths or garlands all on a beautiful fall table runner. Add a harvest feel with accented china pieces, ornaments of woodland creatures like owls and foxes and pull in birch pieces and burlap!
PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS!!! Cinderella style are my favorite! Choose a pumpkin or pumpkins that bring out your own personal style! Make it a band of colorful, different sized gourds that will stand out on your front step:) After all, they'll be greeting you and your guests, so make an impression!
COOKING, GATHERING and FEELING THANKFUL! Cooking this time of year is extra special! We crave warmth in our tummy's after being out in the cold all day, and what better way to warm up than with a large, fall meal! I make everything from thick butternut squash soups to beefy potato and carrot Irish stew to turkey with cornbread stuffing, pecan crusted chicken breasts with mashed potatoes, and crock pot lamb shanks with pearl onions! Fall is a great time of year for baking as well:) Sink your teeth into apple and pumpkin pies, dark chocolate and peanut butter brownies and hot apple ciders and sipping chocolate! Make as much as you can from scratch and avoid ready made foods, your own creation will be much healthier:)
Turkey with Sweet Potato, stuffing, green beans, fingerling potatoes, brown sugar and balsamic brussel sprouts.
Pumpkin Pie, made from scratch by yours truly, and truly YUMMY!
MOVIES! MOVIES! MOVIES! Is there any better way to spend a chilly night than with a spooky movie??? Picture this, a frosty, windy night, you, warm and cozy in your favorite spot, popping in your favorite fall movie, snuggled up with a cup of hot cider, ready to scream, laugh, cry and swoon!
Some of my all time favorites this time of year include: Sleepy Hollow, The Blair Witch Project, The Others, The Village, The Crucible, Dracula, The Lost Boys, Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, The Addams Family and of course The Nightmare before Christmas:)

SWEATERS,COATS and TIGHTS, Oh My!!! Fall styling is one of my favorite things this time of year! It's time to bust out your warmest blazers and thickest sweaters adorned with jewels and fun prints, go out and grab a fur wrap or crotchet scarf and show off your denim dresses with creative tights and boots! Choose pieces rich in fall colors like teal, mustard, wine, purple, orange, green and brown. Slide on a pair of tall riding boots in gray, brown or black to dress your outfit up or down. Add a leather tote or handle bag to complete your look and get ready to venture out in style:)
Shops big and small are waiting for you to walk in and gasp at all the beautiful arrivals! Visit larger shops like Anthropologie, Kate Spade, J.Crew and Madewell for signature pieces, perfect for any Ladies Closet! And venture into smaller, local and online businesses like Gladiola Girls, Twenty 23 LLC, The Yellow Button and The Loophole NOVA, for that extra special something for you and yours!
